The Seminar -- 6:00 p.m.

This Opera 101 class has been designed and arranged specially for our meetup group at my request of the Nashville Opera. This approximately 45-minute class will cover major opera composers (Verdi, Puccini, Mozart) through taking a look at specific operas. We will listen to various arias (you'll learn what an aria is), and other excerpts from well-known operas. Our instructor will use audiovisual tools to transport us and give all of our senses a treat.

The class has been designed to accommodate the interests of all levels of experience so that even veteran operaphiles will enjoy this class and be exposed to some of the nuances of opera, and will learn something new.

The class will also have an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the administrative offices of Nashville Opera, to see "where it all happens" before a performance.

Our instructor will be Stuart Holt, Education Director for the Nashville Opera. You do not want to miss this!

Lecture Price

This is a special offer for our group, and therefore special pricing has been arranged for us. The price for the class will be $10.00/per person.

RSVP Deadline

Please RSVP no later than June 21st. Please RSVP even if you are unable to attend, as this is really important for planning.

I learned a lot more about the structure of an opera and it's changes through the years as well as a new approach to preparing for an opera. That information can really help toward appreciating the perfomances for me. I may even come close to sharing the passion and excitement that some do, from future perfomances!

it was an opportunity that i'm sorry more people were not able to take advantage of. we had a very knowledgeable presenter who was more than willing to share everything he could with us.

The discussion was very informative for an Opera novice like me and helped me to be able to enjoy the experience a lot more in the future. I have already put two of the Operas we discussed into my Netflix Queue and I look forward to seeing them. - Well done Cheryl!
    •  I really appreciated the presentation and I'm looking forward to enjoying opera more.
