Join other local friends of the Opera in attending, supporting, and participating in events in and near Lake County Illinois, and find out why "The Opera" is such a compelling and enduring art form!.
We've got a great variety of affordable opportunities:
- Metropolitan Opera High-Definition Videocasts: Enjoy some of the worlds best talent, broadcast LIVE in hi-def video and audio, in the comfort and convenience of a local theatre.
- Bowen Park Opera: An established and respected troupe, sponsored by the Waukegan Park District. The BPO performs in "intimate" settings, to recorded music or piano.
- Lyric Opera Chapters: The local chapters of the Lyric Opera feature guest-performances and recitals, preview lectures (with music) of upcoming performances presented by members of the Lyric Opera Lecture Corps, and more!
To get started, we'll pick some events to attend, followed by a meal at a local eatery to discuss the work we just enjoyed. As we get rolling, we'll discuss ways of encouraging more opera activities in Lake County (expected to grow by almost 100,000 over the next 10 years).
