Metropolitan Opera HD Simulcast of Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde"

Hello Opera Lovers!...

For this "Metropolitan Opera in High Definition" event, we will attend a live simulcast of the performance of Richard Wagner´s romantic opera "Tristan und Isolde" on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 in HD transmission at the Walter Reade Theater at the Lincoln Center, just steps from the Metropolitan Opera House.

This will be the first event for this group ever that we attend a Wagner opera performance!. And this one has fantastic music, so don´t miss it!.

The performance begins at 12:30 but if you wish to get a good seat and sit together with the group, please arrive by 11.30 am. We will meet in front of the theater. You will be able to recognize me because I will be wearing a NY Opera Meetup badge:

We will of course meet up as a group during intermission; if interested. After performance, we will meet outside.

Jean De Reszke (1850-1925), polish tenor who was the star tenor at the Met in the 1890s. He is shown here as Tristan in this opera.

Some members of the TORONTO OPERA MEETUP who will be visiting New York and will attend this performance at the Met, will join us post-performance for a drink or light refreshments at a nearby restaurant/cafes. You are of course most invited to come.

Kirsten Flagstad (1895-1962), norwegian soprano, Met Opera superstar for Wagnerian roles during the 1930s and 40s, shown as Isolde in "Tristan und Isolde".

THE OPERA STARTS AT 12:30 pm and runs until around 6 pm (approximate ending), including the 2 intermissions.

PLEASE PURCHASE TICKETS VERY SOON, as tickets get sold out fast for any Live HD performance. Cost is $22. I would suggest you purchase the tickets first, and THEN RSVP!
